The Extraordinary Marriage
But what happens when you're sleep deprived, worried about paying your bills, emotions are high, and your relationship is feeling rocky?
When the going gets tough, the tough get going, or do we fade and fold? Sometimes I feel like I'm crumbling and I'd like to fold. Sanity comes back when you remember what you're thankful for, you remember to be loving, and fight yourself... focus on what is right and true. Too often the emotions of the day take over and whisper the negatives that destroy us... and our relationship.
Let's practice Romance... keeping or bringing back that romance that keeps our love life thriving.
Here’s an acronym for ROMANCE that highlights ways to create romance in your marriage:
R.O.M.A.N.C.E.
R - Rekindle the Spark: Remember the joyful experiences that brought you together. Count the things you enjoyed.
O - Organize Date Nights: Plan regular date nights or outings to keep the excitement alive and create new memories together. Search for new things you like to do together.
M - Make Surprises: Surprise your spouse with thoughtful gestures, gifts, or spontaneous plans to show your love and appreciation.
A - Affirm Each Other: Regularly express love and appreciation through verbal affirmations, notes, or small acts of kindness.
N - Nourish Intimacy:
Prioritize physical affection and intimacy to strengthen your emotional connection and enhance closeness. Remember, normally he's a microwave & she's a crockpot. This is important.
C - Communicate Openly: Consistently have conversations about desires, needs, and feelings to create that place of trust, unity, and openness.
E - Explore Together: Try new activities, hobbies, or experiences as a couple to keep the relationship fresh and exciting.
A relationship that's worth having, will take consistent love, care and give.
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." Corinthians 13:4-7 (NIV)
