The Extraordinary Marriage
My church is 4 weeks away from launching a MOMco Group. This now global organization for moms began in the 70's and was then known as MOPS. (Moms Of Preschoolers). It's been on my mind since my daughter, Melissa attended one 10 years ago. If you're interested... check it out. There should be one in your area. www.themom.co/join
With all this on my mind, I think of all the distractions moms have today. So often I hear women talk about the inability, to rise to the standard of the super moms on Tic Toc... FB... and Instagram. But there's something you need understand.
Those women are sharing what they do BEST.
They're sharing the best parts of their lives and families.
Enjoy it. Learn what you want... and let the rest go. Count your blessings.
Here are 3 ways to feel more confident in who you are.
#1 God created YOU Unique. Not like any other woman... or man. 🙄
I sometimes find myself comparing the knowledge of my husband with my own. Well, that makes me feel like not enough. The man can recite football plays from 40 years ago, he knows all the history, ins and outs of the Bible, History of the USA and the world, Politicians and what they believe and have done from all the different states. It drives me crazy... LOL.
OK... so I am comparing. But not to women. Why can't I remember all these FACTS, everyone's name, all about their family, and where they come from??
What do I Have that he doesn't? I have discernment, well balanced common sense (ok, so he does have common sense, thank goodness.), I'm solutions minded, I see both sides of a situation, I'm creative and artsy, I love people. Wow, that kinda looks like we are opposite... but we're really not. Our personalities complement each other.
Stop comparing yourself and start focusing on what you do well.
#2 Beware of the words that you use in your SELF TALK. 🤔
We're taught to have humility, but should you be cutting yourself down, all the time. What would you think if someone else talked to you the way you do? Would you ever speak that way to a friend? Turn your thoughts and habits around. Complete the sentence. I am great at _________. Might be my work... raising respectful & kind kids... cooking... gardening... stretching a dollar... decorating... helping others... and it goes on and on. You see?
#3 Perfectionism. 🤣
We think everything we do needs to be perfect! Well, it's not going to happen. It's not possible. I myself tend to think everyone else has got it all together and I'm the only one struggling. My mom was the perfect homemaker. The house was always perfect, sheets were changed every week, she held the house rules tightly for my sister and I... and when I got married... a perfect house did look OH so good, but I'd rather be working on a creative project, talking to a friend, or out shopping. Good Enough... became my motto.
So, what are your strengths?
What fills your cup?
Are you counting your attributes?
Are you building yourself up... for success or tearing yourself down?
What is your confidence level? How does that effect you?
What will you do starting TODAY?
