The Extraordinary Marriage

Labor Day, Moms, Renew Your Energy

In some families, both parents work for a paycheck, in others, one parent stays home and raises the kids.  Kudos to you. But the truth is sometimes both parents have to work to make ends meet.  Now both parents take turns cooking, cleaning, washing, caring for the kids.  That is... if you want a successful marriage without resentment.

Proverbs 31:28  says, "Her children arise and call her blessed, her husband also, and he praises her." As mothers, we often find ourselves overwhelmed and exhausted, struggling to keep up with our busy lives. I was a stay-at-home mom, but I worked part time.  I found the combination fulfilling.  Besides... who more do I want forming and molding my kid's foundational thoughts and actions.  It was sometimes draining but it was worth it.

Here are some things I've found helpful as you make your way through the journey.

The Emotional Roller Coaster of Motherhood

Stop and refill your energy. Rediscover what drives you and give yourself some credit. "God made each and every one of us special, beautiful, inside and out."  Ask for help if you need it.  Find 3 things that you enjoy and use them to keep your HAPPY on... every week.

Finding Energy and Confidence

Talk Nicely to Yourself - Be mindful of how you speak to yourself. We often say things to ourselves we would never say to a friend.  I am guilty of this myself and it can be draining.

Movement is crucial. Yes, housework counts.  Make it fun by turning on your favorite music.  Find a YouTube yoga or exercise video you like.  Put your baby in a stroller and take a walk.

Get Some Sunshine. Getting outside, even on cloudy days, can uplift your mood and boost serotonin levels.

BE a Friend, Have Some Friends.  A phone call can make a world of difference.  Text is great but human connections and exchanging ideas, makes you feel supported and energized.  Try it!

Make Sure you have activities you love and space out a time to do them daily.  When my kids were little, I pulled out my favorite crafts during their nap time. It recharged my spirit and helped me keep my HAPPY on for the rest of the day.

Now I'm NOT the most organized person, but I have found that creating a few good habits like cleaning up the kitchen as I cook and picking up the house once a day helps keep the order. Designate specific days for tasks like laundry, shopping, cleaning house, can bring a sense of order to the chaos of motherhood.

Remember that you are not alone in this journey. By reaching out to other moms who are in the same place as you, and taking small steps toward self-care, you can rediscover your energy and confidence. It’s okay to seek help and support, and it’s important to prioritize your well-being.
